B. David’s Custom Framing first opened its doors in downtown Washington D.C. in the spring of 1974 and has been operating under the same management ever since. Over the years, we have chosen to keep our workshops and showrooms under the same roof, and until recently that roof has always been downtown. Now, however, there are two roofs. One is downtown at Print Express and the other is in Rockville, MD at the Tri Graphics framing complex where we do most of the actual framing.
So where are you most likely to find me, the owner and principal operator of B. David’s?
I am most likely to be at the Rockville shop: at the work bench with my sleeves rolled up. But if that’s too far a trek for you, simply dial our business number (202) 785-1652 and your call will be directed to my cell phone. We can then arrange a personal framing-design appointment at Print Express. Or at your home or office if you prefer.
But if that all sounds too complicated; or if your framing needs are not frustratingly complex; or if your design has already been envisioned (e.g. a plain black frame with a white mat—not too big, not too small …) Sam, Layla and Ali (the Print Express folks) are there from 9:00-6:00, Mon-Fri to help you, no appointment necessary. Layla, by the way, is quite an accomplished graphic designer.
In addition, I will of course review your choices shortly thereafter as I come downtown several days a week for pickups, deliveries and framing design appointments. I will be happy to email photos of any ideas that come to me or can bring additional samples to your door.

Call me “David.” Mr. Goldman was my father and “Mr. David” cuts hair.
How long does framing take at B. David’s?
Well, we certainly don’t advertise as “next day framers!” It’s best, we think, not to rush quality work.
Sometimes, however, that can’t be helped. So if you absolutely need it not tomorrow but TODAY, close of business, we’ll see—since we aim to please—if we can fit it into our schedule!
Usually, we prefer about 7-10 business days—longer if necessary (custom finished frames, etc.), shorter if possible.
How much does it cost?
Well, we don[t compete with the dime store—but we DO compete with everyone else! Feel free to email or phone us for an estimate.
